    Spatial Planning

    Is an activity centered on making decisions relating to the location and distribution of land use activities, Such as change of use, Extension of Use, Subdivision/ Amalgamation schemes, Extension of leases, Master planning/ Layout plans among others. The main objective of Spatial Planning is to ensure that the utilization of land resources is planned and implemented in an organized manner to meet the needs of present and future generations.

    Geographic Information System (GIS)

    A computer system capable of holding and using data describing places on the earth's surface. GIS gives you the ability to associate information with a feature on a map and to create new relationships that can determine the suitability of various sites for development, evaluate environmental impact, identify the best location for a new facility, and so on.

    Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

    refers to the evaluation of the impacts likely to arise from a large-scale development that may adversely affect the environment. The EIA provides the developers with an indication of the likely consequences of their actions. If properly employed, the EIA process allows informed decisions to be made.EIA is thus an anticipatory and participatory environmental management tool.

    Is a systematic process for evaluating potential environmental, social, and economic impacts (positive and negative) of the proposed policies, plans or program in order to ensure they are fully studied and appropriately addressed at the earliest stage of planning and decision-making” The objectives of the SEA process are to support sustainable development, based on ecological safety and environmental limitations and to preserve the positive impacts of the provisions of fundamental documents and proposed activity, prevent, mitigate or exclude the negative impacts and their consequences and ensure exclusion of provisions and activities with irreversible negative impact.
